- Students usually socialize by going to bars, discos, and parties. Bars are the most common and they like to dance if there are places to dance.
- Male students go to soccer (football) games during the season.
- Drinking is more acceptable for men. In the larger Albanian cities, it is becoming increasingly acceptable for women to both drink alcohol and smoke.
- Smoking used to be very unacceptable for women, but that is changing more and more.
- There are still many rules concerning the dating scene. Most Albanian families are very traditional about a man and woman being engaged before they can spend any time together alone.
- Many couples secretly date and see each other. They must be very covert in order to not be discovered by their elders, neighbors, etc.
- Once a woman has even been seen with another man, her reputation teeters on that working out, because if it doesn't work out, other men will view her as tainted. Many men want to date and then marry a virgin.
