- Hindus revere cows so beef is not common. One can usually only get it in fine dining restaurants.

Languages spoken by the people of Uttarakhand include Hindi, Kumaoni, Garhwali, Jaunsari, and Bhotiya. Apart from these main languages, there are several other local dialects spoken in this state. Food in Uttarakhand is known for its liking among the locals. Most known food items in the palate are Bhatt Ki Churdkani, Kafuli, Phaanu, Baadi, Ras, Arsa, Garhwal Ka Fannah, and Gulgula.
