Drinking and smoking are acceptable, particularly among men. Women drink less and generally do not smoke in public. You see many drunk men in public regularly and it is more or less expected.

There tends to be a great deal of pressure to drink, particularly for men; and once you start you will not be allowed to stop easily.

All group drinking is done in a series of toasts, many of which require that you drink your glass to the bottom. It is not usually appropriate to casually take a sip of a drink between toasts; you must wait for the next toast (which will come quickly) to drink.

By American standards there is very little dating that goes on, although things are changing in the more metropolitan areas. Men can be very forward, particularly toward western women, who they perceive as having a different set of sexual norms than Georgian women.
