- Students tend to socialize at campus parties, going to bars, discos, sporting events, etc.
- Drinking alcohol plays a large part in socializing and many students drink to excess.
- Teens tend to be with their friends out in public, usually at malls, movie theaters, or parks. They are often loud if it is a group.
- Don't call it a disco or discotheque. "Club" is more appropriate term, as in, "Let's go to the club."
- Many American universities value "campus community." Most universities offer a variety of clubs with free membership (such as sports or theater clubs.) Most also offer free or very low-priced group outings around the city, or, in rural schools, group activities such as mountain climbing and boating. Participating in school clubs and outings is seen as a way to build friendships, and demonstrate school pride.
- As a student, whether you are socializing with peers or adults, it is best to look the speaker in the eyes so that they know you are listening to them. Do not interrupt the person who is talking until they are finished.
