- Students over the age of 21 socialize at bars/discos/clubs. Other students generally hang out in shopping malls, coffee shops, movie theaters, etc.
- Under age drinking is not acceptable. Drinking & driving is severely punishable. It is quite dangerous to be caught being excessively drunk in public as you could get into trouble with the police and as mentioned before are usually supposed to have an Alcohol license to drink outside a bar. You cannot drink in public.

- Parents in the UAE tend to be conservative on the subject of dating as are the teachers. It is usually inappropriate for local men and women to date. They’re partner is selected by their parents, and are then expected to get engaged during high school or college or maybe later depending on the mindset of the family.
- Regarding expatriates in UAE, again the concept of dating is not as open as in European or American cultures. Men do usually ask women out,but they are not very forward, since the UAE is an Arab country and conservative.
- Women are almost certainly never forward. A good thing to do on a date would be take them out to a fancy place for dinner or a movie and not be very forward.
- Never expect for sex on the first date or even the second. People generally know each other for a while before dating.
