- Most students socialize by going to bars, discos, house parties, or hanging around a friends’ place.
- Most students drink and smoke.
- Dating is informal, a man or a woman can ask the other person out.
- Most students speak English at an acceptable level.
- Some Flemish refuse to speak French, and some Walloons refuse to speak Dutch. However, most are willing to switch to the other language, if you initially try to address them in their own language.
- Talking politics isn't generally advised, since that's quite a touchy subject. For more and more Belgians, the notion of being Belgian comes second to being Flemish or Walloon.
