- Most university students go to social events as well as bars, discos, and parties to celebrate holidays, birthdays and favorite special days. They also go to sporting events during their free time.
- Drinking is acceptable for students but Mongolian law stipulates one must be at least 22 years old to drink and at least 18 years old to smoke. Beer, wine, and some vodka are the most common drinks. Most of the men smoke.
- The average age of university students in their senior year is 21, and the other students are mainly younger and thus are not legally allowed to partake in the use of alcohol.
- When men ask women out they tend to be very direct. They also tend to always ask women they are dating for many favors, including help in completing their homework among other things.
- Be careful in terms of drinking, especially becoming drunk, and the sorts of party-behavior normally acceptable in the US and Europe – the fraternity/sorority house party: making noise to disturb neighbors late at night, walking home late, etc., as it may make you a target for theft or worse.
- Also, wild or undisciplined behavior on the part of foreign students will usually be seen as reflective of their entire nation.
