Students generally go to bars or discos for socializing. There are usually not many house parties or other types of social events. It all revolves around bars and discos. Going out for a coffee during the day or to a bar for a drink during the evening is the most common way of having fun. Going to parties or discos usually happens during the weekends.

Drinking and smoking are both very acceptable. It may not be impolite to be drunk in public, but it's also not very accepted.

One can drink in bars and at home but not inn public places (although this law is not widely enforced). Smoking is allowed everywhere.

Generally, people do not go out on “dates”. They ask someone if they'd like to be their boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's how the courtship usually starts. They then spend time together in coffee bars, discos, etc.

Men are expected to ask women out, but women are able to ask men out if they like.
